Our School
Welcome to Mount Nelson Primary School.
Mount Nelson Primary School is a small school with approximately 240 students from kindergarten through to Grade 6.
The school has close connections with, and is supported by, the local community. Each student is known by the staff and by their fellow students. We value the closeness that comes with a small caring community nestled in a beautiful environment.
Our school is placed on Mount Nelson with wonderful views over the Derwent River and Hobart. We have a large area of eucalypt forest which is part of the school grounds, and our oval is positioned in such a way as to be surrounded on two sides by native trees.
This amazing position helps support a culture of environmental awareness and a peace and tranquillity that nurtures, inspires and motivates our students to strive to “be the best they can be”.
Our Values are what we prioritise and stand by. Our values are, Care, Respect, Achieve, Team Players and Adaptable. Our values are known by students, staff and families and help to guide the behaviours we would like to see in our school or guide our ways of being and doing together
Our Assets provide a vocabulary to talk about learning, embrace challenge and become resilient in the interest of becoming independent lifelong learners who strive to be and do their best. They are ‘assets’ because they are helpful – highly valuable for learning and flourishing throughout life. Student achievement and wellbeing are our core business.
Our Vision is to create respectful, curious and empowered learners in a sustainable and caring environment which is inclusive to all.
